Lyrics for Lisa – Paradise Is Waiting

Music is one of the main reasons I am still here after July 15, 2017. I have made my own interpretations of as many songs as possible to go along with the loss of my sister. This has been my prescription for survival. With more abstract lyrics I sometimes wonder how close my interpretation is to what the artist was trying to say. I definitely felt that way with St. Lucia’s Paradise Is Waiting. I immediately knew what I felt the lyrics were saying to me. I am so thankful for music and the fact that we can interpret songs in a way that helps us to get through the darkness.

The Paradise Is Waiting lyrics bring me great comfort. The lyrics towards the end tell me to focus on good memories. It is a reminder to think of what we once were and how lucky I was to have so many feelings of happiness and love. It is a reminder to push aside any sadness or bad times and let myself enjoy the paradise inside of happy memories until I see my sister again.

If we should go back
To what we once were
And the feelings we had
Then maybe there’s life
In the things that have died
Maybe we’ll find
That the true paradise
Is waiting inside

The chorus lyrics put a picture in my mind of the day I see my sister again – in paradise. She is standing in the sun. The air is crisp. Not too hot. Not too cold. But of course, if we are picking we would prefer it be on the colder side.

Paradise Is Waiting
Paradise Is Waiting
I can see you standing in the sun

Lisa, until I get to see you again, you’ll be standing in the sun, smiling, truly content as you deserved to be in life. I look forward to seeing you again in paradise my beautiful sister.
